This woman with schizophrenia became a psychologist.
Eleanor Longden’s story is really fascinating, it just shows how we need to really take another look a psychology. Improve our standards beyond the romanticized and tragic idea of mental illness. They are symptoms of the human experience and we really need come to understand the human mind better. She had to become a psychologist herself to understand herself and what was happening. That just shows how flawed the system is right now.
I wish she could go talk to the parents of Jani. That poor girl’s parents keep parading her around on television shows, talking about how this little girl ruined their lives and at the same time trying to make themselves look good by saying they will faithfully care for her despite her horrible behavior. They need to stop treating her like a doomed problem if they want to help her. She may never get to the point like Eleanor, Jani’s condition is very extreme, but Eleanor proves there is a chance the suicidal tendencies, the violence, the negative sides of this condition can go away with more positive treatment from her parents.
